The T2 Open League
STEP 1: Register Your Team:
2 Player teams. Register your team by submitting the necessary information and paying the registration fees for both the captain of the team, and his/her partner.
STEP 2: Schedule Matches:
You will soon be listed as a team on the League roster. Coordinate with other team captains to schedule fixtures. Play your fixtures anywhere, anytime. Ensure that you play all home matches to earn maximum league points.
STEP 3: Submit Scorecard:
After every match in the fixture, submit a scorecard detailing the results.
STEP 4: Check League Standings:
Visit the league's website regularly to view your team's standings and keep an eye out for new teams to schedule matches with.

NB: Please note that these rates are only applicable for this open league fixtures - rates may differ for other usage.
Players claiming to be club members of any participating club shall be required to present proof of such club membership.

If you would like to formally register your club as a participating club, please ask your Club Chairperson to reach out to the League Manager over email.
How the League Points Work:
+1 point for every fixture a team has successfully scheduled and completed (i.e. Hosted) with another team.
[Decided by accurate scorecard received on the same date as the fixture]
+1 point for the post-match selfie posted by 'Home' team on social media (Facebook and/or Instagram only).
[Decided by correct tagging and appropriateness of the photo/post as per League Manager's discretion]
+1 point for every match won in a scheduled fixture.
[Decided by corresponding scorecards received by team captains]

How every Fixture must be played:
Each Fixture is made up of 5 matches as per the below sequence:

Match 3 of 5: Home Team Partner VS Away Team Partner
Match 4 of 5: Home Team Captain VS Away Team Captain
Match 5 of 5: Home Team Pair VS Away Team Pair

Home/Host team guidelines:
Playing Space: Ensure that the playing space is adequately sized and free from clutter/hazards. The playing area should provide enough room for players to move around comfortably without any obstruction.
Clean Table: The table tennis table should be clean and free from any dust, dirt, or debris. Use a suitable table cleaner and a lint-free cloth to wipe down the table surface before matches to ensure optimal playing conditions.
Equipment Inspection: Before matches, inspect the table tennis table, net assembly, scoreboard (if any), playing area & match balls to ensure they are in good condition and meet league standards. Replace any damaged or worn-out equipment as needed.
Safety Hazards: Remove any safety hazards from the playing area, such as loose cables, slippery surfaces, or sharp objects. Ensure that the playing space is well-lit and ventilated to provide a safe and comfortable environment for players.
Seating for Away Team: Provide seating accommodations for the away team and their supporters, ensuring that there is adequate seating available outside the playing area. Consider providing refreshments such as bottled water for visiting players as a gesture of hospitality. Remember that the away team will host you someday, so they will reciprocate your hospitality.
Sportsmanship: Extend a warm welcome to the away team upon their arrival and ensure they have everything they need. Foster a spirit of sportsmanship and camaraderie by promoting a friendly and welcoming atmosphere during fixtures. Allow up to 5 minutes for the Away team to warm up and acclimate to the playing area and equipment.
Match Officials: If matches are officiated by official umpires, ensure they are provided with a suitable area to oversee matches and have clear visibility of the playing area. Respect the decisions of match officials and cooperate with them to ensure fair play.
Post-Match Procedures: After matches, ensure that any scorecards or match results are submitted promptly and accurately as per league regulations. Post a group teams selfie on your social media page and use tag @t2tabletennis (on Instagram) or @GautengT2 (on Facebook).
NB: Photos should be appropriate and compliment the spirit of the sport and not be defamatory towards any persons.
Remember to also thank the away team for having the opportunity to host them and after they have departed, be sure to check-in that they have reached their destination safely.

Equipment Preparation: Ensure that you have all the necessary equipment for the matches, including your own table tennis rackets, appropriate clothing/kit, and any personal items you may need (eg. Towel, snacks, refreshments, etc).
Respect the Host Venue: Show respect for the host venue and its facilities. Follow any guidelines or instructions provided by the home team regarding the use of equipment, any facilities, seating arrangements, and other amenities. Do not, under any circumstances, pass any negative remarks or complaints about the venue, equipment, facilities or anything else provided by the hosts.
Warm-Up: Take advantage of the warm-up time provided before fixtures to familiarize yourself with the playing conditions and adjust to the table and surroundings. Use this time to practice your strokes and get into the rhythm of play.
Courtesy and Sportsmanship: Maintain a courteous and respectful attitude towards the home team, any match officials, and fellow players throughout your visit. Embrace the spirit of sportsmanship and fair play, regardless of the outcome of the matches.
Adapt to Conditions: Be prepared to adapt to different playing conditions, including variations in table surface, lighting, and other environmental factors. Stay focused and maintain your concentration during matches, adjusting your game as needed.

WALKOVERS
Walkovers will be awarded to the Home Team on the following conditions:
- If the away team fails to participate in 3 proposed invitations despite having their schedules accommodated by the hosts.
- if the away team fails to present themselves at the proposed venue within 10 minutes of the proposed date & time.
- if the away team fails to participate in the fixture from start to finish so that all matches in the fixture have been concluded.
A Walkover being awarded implies a 7 (seven) - 0 (nil) victory.
Walkovers will be awarded to the Home Team on the following conditions:
- If the away team fails to participate in 3 proposed invitations despite having their schedules accommodated by the hosts.
- if the away team fails to present themselves at the proposed venue within 10 minutes of the proposed date & time.

Prizes
Prizes only applicable from 2025 if there are a minimum of 9 teams in the division. All prizes are per team in the form of vouchers which can be redeemed from T2 Shop for items in stock. All vouchers must be redeemed within 30 days.
